RE: Ethics Commission Docket No. 96-132
Dear AAA Trophies:
The Board of Ethics, at its February 19, 1998 meeting, concluded a private investigation into the representations contained in a complaint filed with the Board.
Following this private investigation, the Board, by a majority vote of its membership, at its February 19, 1998 meeting, ordered that a public hearing be conducted for the purpose of exploring the following:
That Johnnie Sullivan d/b/a AAA Trophies may have violated Section 1113A of the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics (LSA-R.S. 42:1113A) by entering into sales transactions totaling approximately $35,000 since March 1994 with the City of Kenner Department of Recreation while Johnnie Sullivan, the sole owner of the company, was an employee of the Department of Recreation.
The hearing will be held at 9 o’clock a.m., July 16, 1998 in the Louisiana State Retirement Systems Building, 8401 United Plaza Boulevard, 4th Floor, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
This public hearing will be conducted in accordance with the procedural requirements set forth in Section 1141E and 1143 of the Code, and in conformity with the Rules adopted by the Board, a copy of which is enclosed.
At the conclusion of this public hearing, the Board may impose the civil sanctions contained in Subpart C of the Code.
In order to fully cooperate with you in this matter, we will, upon request, provide you with copies of all documents we may introduce into evidence and the names and addresses of all witnesses we intend to call. If you desire the attendance of any witnesses, the Board can issue subpoenas for those witnesses. In order to have subpoenas issued you must, at least ten (10) days in advance of the hearing, supply the names and addresses of the persons to be subpoenaed and state the reasons that their testimony will be relevant and material.
If you need any additional information, please contact Jennifer Magness or Kathleen M. Allen, the designated trial attorneys.
