RE: Board of Ethics Docket No. 99-288

Dear Mr. Adams:

The Board of Ethics, as its June 17, 1999 meeting, considered your request for an advisory opinion regarding whether East Panola Corporation, a corporation in which Fifth Louisiana Levee District Board member Philip Brown is the majority stockholder, may be paid for lands which were appropriated by the Fifth Louisiana Levee District (the “district”).

The Board concluded, and instructed me to inform you, that the facts presented to the Board do not suggest the occurrence of a violation of the provisions of the Code of Governmental Ethics.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
